The Allerair D models have a 3 inch deep carbon filter (refillable) which allows extra dwell time to remove more VOC's and chemicals than other air cleaners. Allerair filters can be changed separately and there are 40 different carbon blends you can request to remove over 4000 specific chemicals and VOC's from the air. These two features will save you hundreds of dollars over competitive units with HEPA/Carbon combined filters.
