Here is some info on ozone:
It's a little bit disingenuous to call ozone
a "toxic gas" as it's nothing but 3 oxygen atoms. Oxygen can also be a "toxic
gas" in high concentrations by the way. When most of us think of toxic, we
think of man made chemicals that are poisonous. Ozone certainly isn't poisonous
and anything can be toxic (water, oxygen, etc) in high amounts.
Ozone is
good if used correctly. Just like fire or nuclear energy is good when used
correctly. Ozone is the only thing that can break down and remove certain odors
left from certain things such as a decomposing body or dead animal left for
weeks or months undetected. Try removing that stench with a cleanser, good
luck! Ozone will completely and permanently remove those odors as well as skunk
odors, pet urine, etc. Ozone is also used to kill mold and get rid of second
hand smoke damage. That's good in my book!
The best types of ozone
generators feature replacement ozone elements that produce over 3000 mg/h of
ozone. Some people sell a "silex tube" ozone generator with metal tubes that
can't be replaced. That type of ozone generator is a fire hazard and a
"disposable" unit for once it breaks, it's done. UV ozone generators are good
but they don't produce high levels of ozone and they are costly to maintain.
They offer no advantage whatsoever over ozone elements. Next we have the MICA
ceramic plate ozone plates (old style) that produce about 400 mg/h of ozone.
Not enough to perform shock treatments, just enough to freshen the air. Thus,
this type of technology is used in ozone air purifiers which in our opinion are
a terrible idea! You don't want to breath ozone, you want to use ozone to
sterilize the air.
