The
Austin Air HealthMate Plus ™ is
a great air cleaner for the chemically
sensitive and for people who want to
deal with extreme prejudice against VOC's
and chemicals. To
absorb a broad range of VOC's and chemicals,
the engineers at Austin Air added potassium
iodide (KI) to the 15 lbs of activated
carbon-zeolite blend. The Plus
model also absorbs chemically reactive
gases such as formaldehyde and ammonia,
which are prevalent in new home, new
furniture, upholstery, or carpeting.
Best of all, filter costs over 5 years
only amount to $56 a year, electricity
usage is only 115 watts on high, noise
is only 28dbs on low, and this machine
takes air in from all angles. For areas
up to 1500 sq. ft, (2 air changes hr),
