The
Austin Air HealthMate Plus Jr™ provides
great protection from a wide range of airborne
particles, chemicals, VOC's, and odors. To
absorb a broad range of VOC's and chemicals,
the engineers at Austin Air added potassium
iodide (KI) to the 6.5 lbs of activated carbon-zeolite
blend. The Plus model also absorbs chemically
reactive gases such as formaldehyde and ammonia,
which are prevalent in new home, new furniture,
upholstery, or carpeting. All
steel construction means no off gassing, a problem
with plastic air purifiers. Best of all, filter
costs over 5 years only amount to $27 a year,
electricity usage is only 80 watts on high,
and this machine takes air in from all angles.
For areas up to 750 sq. ft, (2 air changes
hr), this air cleaner is a great value.
